Experience and continuing education

Teresa is the owner and head K9 trainer here at Dogtown; she has over 30 years of experience with training dogs. After deciding to make her passion for training dogs into her livelihood and starting Dogtown, she has trained hundreds of dogs as family pets and companions. Helping and coaching clients to meet their goals with their dogs, either at home as well balanced members of your family, or in competition and obedience events. Teresa was the ^Training Director and Southwest Regional Director of United Schutzhund Clubs of America for 7 years, 2014-2021. She was also one of the founding members of North County Schutzhund Club in 1995 and at different times served as their president and Training Director. She then started the first American Schutzhund Club on the West coast and served as its president and Training director since 2020. She has owned dogs her whole life. Rottweiler’s and German shepherds primarily. Beginning in the early 90’s, she has trained, titled and competed with her own dogs, having achieved many titles, from Obedience in the AKC ring to National level Schutzhund/IPG competitor on the trial field as well as competing Internationally in Germany. Teresa is continually learning and striving to better herself in the dog training field. In addition to running Dogtown K9 Training, Teresa actively is training  her own dogs, and striving to compete at the highest levels of working dog sport with them. She is mentored by some of the top working dog trainers in the world. In addition, she regularly attends dog training seminars and workshops focusing on obedience, tracking and protection for her working dogs throughout the United States and Germany... She is an excellent coach and teacher. Being good natured, Teresa always makes learning for all involved a very fun and positive experience.
